Durham, NC (May 5, 2024) - Local news outlets report two fatal hit-and-run accidents occurred in Durham during the first weekend of May, resulting in the deaths of two pedestrians and the subsequent arrest of the drivers involved.

According to the Durham Police Department, the first incident took place on the evening of May 4, 2024. At around 9:00 p.m., 35-year-old Timothy Wright was crossing North Miami Boulevard near Raynor Street when he was struck by a dark blue Jeep Grand Cherokee. Alston was held without bond on these charges, with an additional $30,000 secured bond for two probation violations.

The second hit-and-run occurred early on May 5, 2024. At approximately 5:00 a.m., 28-year-old Phillip Farrington was walking in the 2400 block of North Roxboro Street when he was struck by a northbound 2014 Lexus sedan. The driver fled the scene, and Farrington was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver, 22-year-old Nicole Lee of Durham, was later identified and charged with felony hit-and-run resulting in death, no operator's license, and operating a motor vehicle with no insurance. Lee was released on a $6,500 unsecured bond.
