Charlotte, NC (June 4, 2024) - According to local news sources, a tragic accident occurred early Tuesday morning in Uptown Charlotte, resulting in one fatality and two injuries. The crash took place near Bank of America Stadium, specifically at the exit from John Belk Freeway to Carson Boulevard.

At around 3:00 a.m., a motor vehicle accident occurred on Interstate 277, John Belk Freeway. The incident caused severe delays in the area near Interstate 77 during the early morning hours. Three people involved in the accident were transported to area hospitals for medical care. One of the victims passed away from their injuries after arriving.

The incident led to the closure of the inner loop of Interstate 77 North between Brooklyn Village Drive and Caldwell. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers reported that two individuals sustained injuries while a third person succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department is currently investigating to determine what caused the accident.
