Robeson County, NC (May 29, 2024) - According to local news sources, a fatal accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon in Robeson County, resulting in one death and one arrest. The North Carolina Highway Patrol confirmed the incident, stating that it took place around 5:19 p.m. at the intersection of Mount Zion Church Road and Highway 71.

Troopers reported that a Ford Ranger, driven by Presley Prather, was traveling west on Mount Zion Church Road, while a Ford Fusion, driven by Isaac Locklear, was heading north on Highway 71. Both vehicles failed to stop at the four-way stop intersection, leading to a collision. The impact caused the Ford Ranger to veer off the road and hit a ditch, where Prather was pronounced dead at the scene.

Isaac Locklear, the driver of the Ford Fusion, sustained minor injuries but was not hospitalized. Following an investigation, the highway patrol determined that although both drivers failed to stop at the intersection, Locklear's actions were deemed the proximate cause of Prather's death. Consequently, Locklear was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.
